Suicide Act

This would decriminalize suicide

People who failed to kill themselves would no longer be prosecuted

Passed in 1961

This is good for society because people will now have more freedom over their life. Suicide is a bad thing but the fact it was decriminalised shows that people who have mental health problems can focus on reform instead of dying

Abortion Act 1968

Doctors were given the decision if a women met the conditions laid down by the act

This is successful because this meant that women were gaining more freedom over their body

It allowed doctors to perform abortions lawfully

This would reduce the power of men

This made abortion legal

Before this act came into place items like knitting needles and coat hangers were jabbed into women and they would insert chemicals like fertilisers to kill the baby

Before the abortion act, women would risk their lives not to give birth and were so desperate that untrained professionals would carry out these procedures

Overall, this is successful and good for society because women would not have to have pregnancies that they did not want and it actually gave them a choice

Contraceptive pill

This would give women more sexual freedom

Would allow women to have sex when they wanted

This would prevent a pregnancy

Would reduce unwanted pregnancies

This was done in 1961

Bringing this in is good for women morally because they would get more freedom and choice on how to prevent unwanted pregnancies and gave women a choice

Whos in power

He would have an increase of 47 seats

Tories would lose 51 seats

Edward Heath would win the election in 1970

Wilson wins the election in 1964 with 317 seats

Tories had 330 seats whereas Labour had 288

Wilson would win the 1966 election again

Tories promised to cut taxes and give more help to the poor

Homosexualitiy

This meant that people thought they should be jailed

Due to society views, this would decriminalise being gay

In 1963, 93% of Britons thought homosexuals were ill

Gay women was never a problem

Was made illegal until 1967
