Data Tracking
Tier 2
Tier 1
Weekly Scatter Plot
This can be used for their schedules. Often students cant finish their work due to the difficulty of time management. It is important that they manage their own time and plan it out to finish the given work. Also, the teacher can provide interventions before important assignments, as well as space out interventions on a consistent schedule.
Student Learning Style Survey
This can help students to know themselves better and also for teacher to get to know them. Teachers can come up with solutions for the student to be able to complete the work such as assigning a group project(group leaner) and written assignment(expressiveness).
Self Monitoring Assignment Sheet
To see if they are ready to do some work, to make some progress by themselves
And slowly they can set a goal to complete one. This is a simple, easy checklist that students can use to remind themselves of homework and to stay on track. It will help them feel good when they finish it too. Finally, it can build good habits of making todo lists in students, a skill they can bring to more advanced classes and to the workplace eventually.
Data Tracking
LiveSchool – platform for tracking behavior points and rewards
This is a good engaging tool for tracking student behavior and participation. It can also motivate students by rewarding them for positive behavior. The rewards store is a really cool idea. I like the concept of the students “earning” their rewards with good behavior. It’s positive reinforcement! I think the built-in sharing with parents is also an efficient way to report problems to the students’ homes. This would save me a lot of time in class to have everything on one platform.
Daily Positive Behavior Tracking Form
This is a good way to show students they are progressing. Having smiley face stickers on it would motivate them to behave well in the classroom. They need to have a reason to change themselves. This is probably more appropriate for K-5, who will appreciate the stickers more.
Problem Behavior Survey
First, the teacher should understand what is causing the problem behavior. Digging down to the root of the student’s behavioral issue will allow the teacher to address that problem in the student’s life, possibly by crafting a solution or strategy to minimize that problem behavior. With this survey the teacher has a framework to record instances of behavior and keep track in a detailed and organized way.
Interventions
Tier 2
Tier 1
Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)
This has numerous benefits. It provides more intensive intervention and monitoring, Increases support around students, and provides an individualized plan for success. Finally, it involves teachers, support staff, the student, and parents actively
Tier 3
No Passing time
This can be used for very violent disruptive behaviors such as bullying or fights in bathrooms and hallways. To implement this, the student should be kept until the normal passing time is over. If necessary, the student may be accompanied by an adult teacher. The student is allowed 5 minutes to go to their locker, get their things, use the bathroom, and go to class. If the student is more than 5 minutes late to class, they will receive a tardy.
Praise when cooperative and well behaved
Disruptive behaviors occur because they dont know how to behave. It is important to use praising when they behave well so their positive behaviors are reinforced. All children want the approval of adults, whether they know it or not. In a way, for young kids, teachers serve as extra parents, reinforcing positive behaviors and discouraging disruptive ones. Eventually the kids learn that it feels much better to behave well and be praised.
Tier 3
Peer Tutoring
Peer tutoring can be suitable if a student is inattentive and unfocused or needs directions repeated a lot and concepts reviewed multiple times.
Possibly the student is too worried to ask for help or frustrated and has given up. A peer can reset their mindset in a way that a teacher can’t. Peers can motivate others through peer encouragement. This is more social and fun than listening to a teacher in a class too.
Mentoring
Mentoring can help increase student morale and student motivation. Maybe the student needs someone looking out for them to feel better or have confidence to tackle the challenges of school. mentoring provides a source of accountability and encouragement that could provide the boost the student needs to finish his/her work.
Give choices
Students are not motivated yet to do their work. I would wait until they want to do extra work if they are not motivated to do because forcing them to do something they don't want to do won't make a good result anyway. With choices, students feel they are making the decisions and will be more motivated to finish the assignment.
Help students start assignments
Helping them to start can improve. If they don't finish their work, maybe they don’t know how to start it or how to process it. Showing examples to students in the beginning would give directions to them. They will see that the assignment is doable and not as daunting as it first seemed. Also, once students see how something is done, they are incredible at copying. In fact, this is a valid learning strategy. That may be the boost they need to begin their work.
Frequent home contact
Homework assignments can be supervised by parents at home. Parents who give more attention to their children’s work would motivate the students to complete it because someone is watching them and holding them accountable at home.
