In 1978, Government set up a non-statutory commission for SCs and STs
In 1987, renamed it National Commission for SCs and STs
65th CAA of 1990 provided establishment of high level multimember National Commission for SCs ans STs which replaced all above
89th CAA of 2003 bifurcated National Commission for SCs and STs into two separate bodies
