Cell cycle (1) Interphase (Most cycle, Cell growth, DNA replication,…
Cell cycle
1) Interphase
Most cycle
Cell growth
DNA replication
Synthesis--- proteins + organelles
DNA checked----- apoptosis
2) Mitosis
Repair damaged tissue
Replace damaged cells--- genetically identical
Growth----increase amount of cells
chromosomes- DNA wound around proteins (histones)
2i) Prophase
Chromosomes condense---visible (shorter + thicker)
Nuclear membrane breaks down
Nucleoulus disappears
Centrioles make spindles-- move to both ends of poles
2iii) Anaphase
Centromeres divide
spindle fibres contract--pull sister chromatids apart
Chromosomes move to opposite ends of poles ( v-shaped)
Energy from ATP-- mitochondria--- move to where needed
2iv) Telophase
Chromatids reach opposite poles
Chromosomes uncoil- chromatin
Spindle disappears
New nuclear membrane form
2ii) Metaphase
Centromeres attach chromosomes to spindle fibres-- line up along equator of cell
1 chromsome = 2 sister chromatids-- joined by centromere
3) Cytokinesis
2 daughter cells formed
Interphase + mitosis + cytokinesis
