UK country and people
Politics
Two states
- The republic of Ireland
- The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK)
great-brittain:
- wales, England, Scotland and Northern Ireland (nog the republic of Ireland)
- it's calles 'great' to distinguish it from brittany (France)
-
Geographically
- North-West coast of of Europe, Two larger islands ans a much more little ones. Big ones: UK x Ireland. No name for all of them together
- in 19th century it was sometimes 'British Isles' but that is outdated because it calls to mind the time Ireland was dominated by Brittain. There are also two Islands (Channel islands and the isle of man) that are crown dependencies and are not officially part of the UK, they have complete internal self-government
