Survival Since the very first page of the novel, we learn that protagonist Frenchie is hiding and running away from people that want to harm him. He is like a fugitive, but he didn't do anything! The aboriginal teenager is running for his goddamn life. Also, the resources like food or clothing are very limited due to the world that they live in, and I think it adds a lot more to that survival aspect. They are being hunted and, when you are being hunted, you run to survive!
