Rectification
Half-wave
First half-cycle
when a pulse of current flows in the direction , a potential difference across R is created = applied potential difference .
Second half-cycle
-
As the resistance in the rectifier is very high , no current flows , therefore the potential difference across R=0
Full-wave
Center-tap
Half-cycle
Point A is positive if rectifier B conducts. When rectifier B conducts, the current flows through ABC and OA and also load R.
Rectifier E does not conduct current as the potential difference across FO is in reserve biased with respect to it .

Bridge
First half-cycle
if point A is positive , rectifiers 1 and 2 conduct current which flow through ABC,DEF and load R.
Second half-cycle
point F is positive as rectifier 3 and 4 now forward biased . So, the current flows through FEC , DBA and load R
