Findings: 12 weeks after, the participants in the Zoloft group had a better improvement than those who took the placebo.
Conclusion: the participants who used Zoloft had a better change of improvement of the symptoms as The self-reported improvement rates were 60% for the Zoloft group and 38% for the placebo group.
Aim: to test the effectiveness of Zoloft, an SSRI on severe PTSD patients.
Method: A double-Bind trial, meaning that neither the patients nor the researchers new which treatment was given to which participants.--> to avid researcher bias.

Evaluation: Zoloft group had negative side effects such as insomnia, diarhhoea, cause and decreased appetite. furthermore, 9% of the Zoloft group also experienced withdrawal symptoms at the end of the study. A strength of the study was that there were a large sample of 208 patients which can be generalised to other population.
Knaevelsrud et al (2014)
Aim: investigation the efficacy of a cognitive behavioural internet-based intervention for war traumatized arab patients, with focus on Iraq.
Methodology: the participants took part in an online ITT program for 6 weeks. the participants had to complete two 45 minute writing assignments per week during a 6-week period. The therapist provided the partipants feedback and frequent encouragement of participants to voice their questions and doubts.

findings: participants showed a significant decrease in PTSD symptoms and improvement in self-efficacy. following in the interview, all clients had maintained their level of improvement. Only 13 % of the participants dropped out of the study.
Conclusion: the results indicate , even in unstable and insecure settings with ongoing exposure to human rights violations through war and dictatorships, people with Posttraumatic stress symptoms benefit from a cognitive behavioural treatment provided entirely through the internet.
sample: Carried out a study of 30 elderly survivors of World War II, to 17 females and 13 Males who had been diagnosed with PTSD.

Sample: 10 patients aged (19-56 years old) fulfilling diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorder DSM-iii criteria for PTSD completed 5 weeks of treatment on each agent.
Findings: Improvement in anxiety symptoms was significantly greater during alpracolaq treatment but to modest extent. Also ,symptoms specific to PTSD were not significantly altered.
