- - - - The poem has an extremely interesting structure, which is two lines on either side of the page that are split and telling two different narratives, or rather giving a set of rules/guidelines. While one speaks on how to deal with a cop and you are racially profiled, how to speak to the uninformed etc. the other gives the rules or "resolutions" of the camp. The stories themselves are separate, but "inter-dependent" as the poem says. It's all connected somehow, whats happening now, is directly connected to everything left unsolved in the last few hundred years.
    - - When hearing a short phrase like this poems title that involves Hydra, I can only envision the famous image of Captain America saying "Hail Hydra" (which is the Marvel Universe equivalent the Nazis). Now I can only imagine this is intentional when talking about the US government, and more specifically the fascist rule that is so often applied to the Trump presidency. Regardless, this poems usage of the eel-like, snake imagery to represent the oil is something quite powerful to read.
    - - A almost hypnotically powerful poem that very subtly and quietly evokes a man talking to himself, almost whispering to himself because hes so deep in thought but is still around others who may hear him. Its very similar to a prayer in the way that it reads, and is so heartfelt in the realness in which the author speaks on himself. "I am too big to run, and I am not much of a fighter
    - - Similar to Long Soldier's Resolution, we see the split narrative here. One is a sermon-like prayer, the other a very clear story of a Indigenous Veteran walking up to the security force at Standing Rock. There's an overwhelming tone of disappointment present, both in the Vet towards the security force, but in the prayer at the situation. something as simple as "protecting the water... let our earth cleanse itself" is so tragic to hear, as we have to acknowledge our mistakes and how our planet pays for them.
    - - "There are persons who delight in human suffering..in pepper spraying humans milky relief aftermath rubber bullets hit back lung cough blood for days contusion bloom skin rupture bone preen"
    - - What would seem obvious but I feel is still noteworthy is the overwhelming presence of prayer in almost every poem or piece of media made by an Indigenous persons. Its such an overwhelming force in the culture that its omnipresent, which is something so far removed from my sphere of existence.
    - - What brings so much power to this poem is how wide-reaching it is. DinéYazhi' is simultaneously almost writing a journal entry and making a short-form essay. Its this story of how she SHOULD be at Standing Rock, how upon seeing Indigenous people out in her daily life, she reaches out and greets them instead of her normal silent acknowledgement. Its a poem about what she should be doing, how she should be interacting with the world. A "#Indigenousqueer" who is marginalized in every sense who can only repeat one phrase "destroy the white supremacy"

  - - - The most interesting piece of this video is how the creation of the game almost got a new law in Minnesota enacted in which any grant for funding MUST be looked at by the Senate in order to approve the recipient; The Senate themselves has the final say. This obviously caused massive backlash, as, in what universe would that ever be considered not the absolute control of the government over all funding? If an institution wants to give a grant, what right does the government have to intervene (this is a joke as that self-imposed right is exactly why Indigenous people make u less than 3% of the overall US population and hold minimal land).
    - - As someone who follows the video game industry quite closely, this game literally containing any controversy for "putting lives at risk" is blatantly absurd. This argument is entirely constructed off of "science" with literally 0 backing, and admittedly, there isnt really enough provoking "game" in Thunderbird Strike. There certainly is a powerful message of understanding the oil use and the industrial oil complex is a net-negative thing, but inspiring someone to commit "eco-terrorism"? Laughable
  - - - The song is legitimately powerful anthem. Of course at times it can be somewhat corny, but its the message that it sends that's important: Stand Up. Its a message of unification, a hope beyond hope to get people together, willing to fight for the cause they believe in. No matter how many times you've been shut down, its up to you to stand up and continue the fight. (its also interesting how they reference the plight of Afirican Americans with "Malcolm X moment, Martin Luther King with a Dream and War Bonnet")
    - - Its admittedly somewhat of an interesting story to have this rapper who is facing upwards of 7 years in jail for his protesting, especially as someone who worked in oil fields before he internally had to say enough was enough, and went to Standing Rock to help the cause.
