- - - - This temple is the largest Buddhist monument in all of SE Asia. It contains 500 statues of Buddha, the largest being 10 meters tall. One of the two main temples is a shrine at the end of a 300 step staircase with many natural caves.
    - - Vietnam’s first National University. It was built under the rule of Ly Thanh Tong in order to honor Confucius. It became a school in 1076 and taught mostly Chinese history. Lastly, it continued to be a school until 1779 when a newer school was made.
  - - - Started as an ancient city on the banks of the Mekong River. In 1560, the king declared Vientiane to be the capital city of Laos. By the 17th century, Vientiane had grown to be a center of politics, economics, and culture.
    - - The Bokeo province was originally named for its abundant minerals because Bokeo means “jade mine”. And in 2004, the Bokeo Nature Reserve was founded to preserve a total of 123,000 hectares of rainforest. Many of Laos’s rare animals like chimpanzees, elephants, and tigers live in this reserve. It is ran by The Gibbon Experience who even help local populations with sustainable farming.
- - - - It was originally designed in 1987 to be 1,000 feet tall, Have 3,000 rooms, and have 5 restaurants. The project was supposed to take 2 years, but construction went off and on. Once it was only a concrete shell, it’s ominous presence over the city gave it its nickname ‘Tower of Doom.’ Even after that, it still wasn’t worked on for another 16 years. To this day, it remains the worlds tallest unoccupied structure.
    - - Kijong-dong is a fake village near the DMZ which has no real population. People speculate that it is used to draw in South Korean defectors. North Korea refers to it as ‘Peace Village’ and claims that it has 200 residents. But the only people are street sweepers who try to give off the appeal of activity. The buildings are just concrete shells with automatic lights that come on at night.
  - - - The Jindo sea splits to reveal a thin, 1.8 mile long strip of gravel that connects two islands. In the 1970s, a French man named Pierre Landy compared the phenomenon to the biblical parting of the Red Sea. It became famous when he wrote about it in a French newspaper. This event can be explained by science. This gravel strip is sediment from the calm tides in the area during high tide. When the tide lowers, it reveals the buildup. But legend has it that tigers on Jindo island had threatened the townspeople, so they fled to Modo island. One woman was left behind accidentally, and the sea god made a path over the Jino sea for her.
    - - "Bulguksa Temple" means "Temple of the Buddha Land" and was built in the 8th century CE. It is located near Mt. Tohamsan in the ancient city of Silla. Sadly, the temple suffered a large fire, which diminished it to a small percent of its original size. Luckily, it was restored. It was made to keep in mind the paradise land of Buddha. This was represented by three courts, which took over 40 years to complete due to very prices mathematical patterns.
