Our presentation looks at addressing misconceptions and stereotypes. This is done through showcasing the true identity of Mexican culture. Through the use of food, art, religion and many more, we aim to give children a rounded view of Mexico, allowing them to truly understand Mexican culture. The pupils may already have preconceived ideas of Mexico, but through our presentation we aim to address and challenge these. Thus, offering a safe space for pupils to express their views. In our presentation, we are using a range of children's literature to support the pupils understanding of Mexico. However, some books do portray incorrect perceptions of people or places (Morgan & Forest, 2016, p. 76). This is something we will try to avoid, by carefully selecting the literature we use.
