By 8000 B.C.E people living along both rivers started farming. They raised sheep and cattle.
Those who lived along Huang He grew millet.
Millet- A grain that is suitable for dry and cool climates such as China
They also tamed dogs and farmed pigs and chickens.
Qin Dynasty
Qin Shi Huang ordered a whole tomb complex for himself. In 1970s, we found more than 7,000 life size soldiers and horses made of terra cotta (a kind of pottery).
It revealed that Qin Shi Huang had wealth and complete control over everyone.
The soldiers held thousands of bronze weapons
Qin Shi Huang became the first emperor when he was only a teenager. He took full power on 238 B.C.E. and put down a rebellion, killed one high court official and sent another one to exile. He ruled harshly and killed anyone who was in his way. When scholars complained about his actions, Qin Shi Huang killed more than 400 of them. He ordered to burn books. He sent people to find the liquid that would make him live forever but failed.
Every soldiers face was different and positions were too.
The armor was made of leather and waterproofed by applying a coating of lacquer.
Ancient China had many eras which were called dynasty. There was a total of 10.

People usually ate grains and vegetables.
Rice was really valuable because farmers could only harvest twice a year.
After life
They also believed that there was a life after death. They stocked the tomb of their rulers with many goods.
Tombs usually hold furniture, weapons, and musical instruments. Miniature models of structure and wall decorations reveal a lot about Han Dynasty homes.
Shang tombs had people who were killed so they could be with the ruler in the after life. The sacrifice disappeared after the Zhou rulers took power.

Gods
They worshipped many gods. There were three teachings: Confucianism, Daosim, and Buddhism
From the early Shang dynasty, people worshipped ancestors and thought that the gods in heaven organised officials in the imperial government.

Furnishings
The ancient chinese didn't have chairs so they knelt on straw mats.
For light, they used oil lamps.
Beds and couches began in the Warring States period.
Houses
Houses surrounded a courtyard.
The place u sleep depend on what rank you are on. Such as if you were the home owner, you would get the main room. Elderly members of the family lived in the back. Younger members lived to the side of the home owener.
Roofs are tiled and walls are made of brick, baked pottery and plaster.
Some wealthier home owners had guards that stood watch and a screen wall. A screen wall is made out of wood, tile or brick and stood near the entrance of the house. It was used by visitors to adjust their clothing before entering,
Wood could be damaged by moisture, so they built houses on a platform to avoid it.
They used wood because wood comes from living trees and there is a connection that made it desirable to have in a home.
