The Nervous System
-
-
-
-
Layers of the meninges
Inner - Pia Mater “gentle mother” covers every fold of the brain , thin, contains blood vessels and nerves
Middle - Arachnoid mater (looks like cobweb) , very thin, lacks blood vessels
Dura Mater - tough, white dense connective tissue, contains many blood vessels
-
-
Action Potential
-
-
-
membrane potential goes towards 0V or unpolarized, and momentarily becomes positively charged
-
Sodium channels react making the zones of axons open , diffusing inward and depolarizing the axon membrane
-
-
Spaces and Ventricles
Neural canal enlarges in 4 areas of the brain, forming ventricles
-
The longitudinal fissure divides the cerebrum into L & R hemispheres (L hemisphere controls R side of body)
