        Countries with territory on bordering an ocean exercise complete sovereignty up to 12 miles of shoreline. Other countries have the right to ¨innocent passage" through these waters.
        
        Contiguous Zone: Up to 24 miles from shore, countries can exert control to prevent their sanitary, immigration, etc. laws
        
        Exclusive Economic Zone: Up to 200 miles from shore, a country has exclusive economic rights.
        
        Past 200 miles, the ocean is considered international waters.
        
        Median Line: If two countries exclusive economic zones overlap, they split the area half-half
