Economics
Economy - system of production, consumption, and distribution of goods and services.

Industrialization - a process by which an economy is transformed from an agricultural to one that produces goods.

Human Development Index - measures a countries in its economic and social achievements,
GDP - Gross domestic product . Measure all good produced in a certain time period. GDP = Value of products from all the economic sectors.

Globalization
Pros: It can lift countries from extreme poverty into more developed countries. China is a great example of this. It creates a source of profit of poor countries.
Cons: leads to exploitation of cheap labor. This can include child labor or even slavery. This makes stuff cheaper to make. Somewhat unethical.

Geopolitics
Push/pull factors: factors that cause people to either leave their country(poverty,war), or factors that cause people to move to a certain country (good standards of living).

Sovereignty - The authority to make political decisions over land, people, and resources.

Asylum - When a country grants legal status to a refugee to stay there for ever or a limited amount of time.

Physical - A boundary that is on something physical like a mountain range or river. (France and Germany Rhine river)

Chain Migration - When people follow you to your new country because you bring your culture with you. Or your family already lives there.

Types of Locations
Absolute Location - A location that is described by coordinates or an address. For example, 1515 Greenbriar Boulevard
Boulder, Colorado 80305-7043 is an absolute location.
Relative Location - A location that is described by a distance or direction from another location. (Boulder is 30 miles west from Denver.)
GPS- (Global Positioning System) a system that uses satellites to pinpoint your absolute location on the coordinate grid.
Map Distortion- A sphere can not be projected on a flat surface without being distorted. All flat maps are distorted

Enviroment
Weather - Short term changes in the atmosphere. For example, the weather today is stormy.
Climate - Describes the weather over a long period of time. For example, the weather in panama is humid all year round.
Human- Environmental interaction - How human activity effects the environment. The effects can be either good or bad. For example, burning fossil fuels causes climate change.
Climographs- A graph of a locations climate, bars represent precipitation, and point represent temperature.

General Terms

Place- Describes the physical and human aspects of the location. Can also describe what culture is present in that location. (FE: Huntsville is predominately Christian town.
Region - A broader geographic are that is characterized by something. FE: the Sunni reigon in the middle east is characterized my most people being sunni.
Movement - How humans exchange different thing. This can be resources through trade or ideas through education.
Types of Geography
Human Geography - the study of how humans interact with each other, move around the globe, and their interactions with the environment Studies human's culture too.
Physical Geography - Geography studying Earth's natural features and different processes. For example, the Rocky Mountains are in the western part of Colorado.
