The legalization of cannabis refers to a group of three plants with psychoactive properties which include Cannabis sativa, Cannabis indica, and Cannabis ruderalis. This drug is commonly known to many people as marijuana, weed and pot. When these types of plants (flowers) are being dried and harvested, the remaining parts become one of the most common drugs mentioned previously. The short term effects of Cannabis consist of not being able to hear sounds clearly and forms a distorted vision that later becomes more intense to the body. However, others feel symptoms of relaxation and increased appetite. To extend, the negative side effects, they include delayed reaction time, anxiety, nausea, increased heart rate, decreased blood pressure, and paranoia. The main groups of people who use this drug (after legalization), are mostly males ages 45-64 for “recreational purposes”. Also, the greatest amount of users are aged 18 to 25 (30%) compared with those who are in their mid-20s and older. But an increasing proportion of new users were aged 45 and older. The average age of a cannabis user in Canada is now 38 after legalization.
