Soldiers
They were soldiers from France

Important people who lived on the land along the rivers that were divided into rotures
They were men who knew the king well
seigneurs got taxes from the habitants
Seigneurs had to build a mill pay part of the cost of building a church and to help build bridges and roads
Habitants
French settlers who emigrated to New France
Their role was to clear land , build a home , and grow crops
They did cooking building etc. they were very resourceful
habitants worked on seigneurs land for a few day each year
They got land and the tenant farmer was a habitant he had to build a house and clear and farm his land
When habitants were not working to have fun they visit friends and families and have parties they would eat , sing , and dance
Catholic Church/Clergy
High Priority to convert First Nations to Catholicism
The church established schools, hospitals and orphanages in New France
The clergy was a small group of educated people who could read and write
Had a important role in governing the colony
People consulted them before making decisions especially decision that affected politics and economy of the colony.
