STEP 2: Differentiated Instruction

STEP 1: Identifying the struggling student.

Are they struggling in multiple subjects

Social interactions struggling as well

Student not acting in their normal behavior

  • Have they been struggling for a prolonged period of time.

Multisensory lessons/assignments

Learning environment, changing where they sit, the distractions around them, who they sit by, etc.

Present learning material in different ways

Individualized learning, understand how the student learns best, include their interests in the lesson

Get Parents informed and involved

Continue to help the student in the classroom through differentiated instruction

Inform them of why you believe this student might need to be referred to special education along with any other relevant/important information

Various tests to see where they are at academically

Analyze students school record

Observe student in classroom

Assist Administration with evaluating student

Mad/Sad

Lack Of Participation

Test Scores/Homework Socres

Not paying attention

Trouble following basic directions
