Out of Seat Olivia
Olivia is a 2nd grade student. During class, she often gets out of her seat to get pencils, erasers, tissues,etc. She frequently drops her pencils and erasers so that she can get out of her chair while she should be doing classwork. She often asks to go to the bathroom during class, interrupting the flow of the lesson. While doing these things, she will take as long as possible and often stop to talk with other students.
Tier 1 Interventions
Call on student frequently
Calling on Olivia frequently will help Olivia be engaged with the lesson and keep her on task. Doing this will also increase Olivia's interest in the topic.

Do unfinished work during recess or unstructured time
Having students complete their work during their personal time can be a significant deterrent for most students because it affects their personal time.
Tier 2 Interventions
Calling parents may be an effective deterrent from further behavior. It's also important to keep parents with up-to-date information about their children. This can also help improve the parent-teacher relationship.

Non-verbal Cues & signals can be used discretely to keep a student on task while saving class time. Olivia and I would sit down and think of a hand signal to show her when she is off task and remind her to continue to work on her classwork. This signal could also be used to show her an appropriate time to get up and do what she needs to.
Tier 3 Interventions
Response to Intervention: At this point, Olivia must be trying very hard to avoid doing her work, possibly because she feels that she is unable to do her work. RTI addresses the academic part of this problem and will help boost Olivia's confidence.
Check In Check Out may be a good be a good fit for Olivia at this point. This will establish better structure for her and will encourage her to be more responsible.
Talk one on one with student
Talking one on one with the student about their behavior and why they doing and explaining why they should not do it may be all that this student needs to change. Of course, this may take several one on one talks before the student improves totally.
