Differentiated Strategies About the Moon
5 Students who got most of the answers right on the pre-assessment
After, they will compile a group report with accompanying images.
Formative Assessment:
Students will go over the main points of the report as a group with the teacher to assess what questions they have and the knowledge they gained from their research.
They will write these BIG questions down together and then use the computer/tablets to research the information.
Independent Study Project:
These students will go into a group together and brainstorm different questions they have about the moon that they have not learned yet.

Questions to Consider
1) Facts they come across about the moon
2) Why does the moon shine?
3) What causes day and night?
4) Why does the moon look different every night?
Students will then make their own Kahoot in groups developing multiple choice and T/F questions.
Students will look at the
BIG
questions about the moon and do their own research in groups of 3.
Formative Assessment
: students will test each other on their own Kahoots under the observance of the teacher.

Moon journal
with images and vocabulary. Student will come up with describing words for each picture.
Formative Assessment:
whiteboard activity where students will draw their own interpretation of each moon related vocabulary word.

Students will draw what they see in their journals and orally attempt to explain why this is happening.
Formative Assessment:
students will make a mainly visual graphic organizer to illustrate their understanding of the topic.
Teacher will show a physical representation of the moon and sun to illustrate orbit how the moon changes every day of the month.
