BILINGUAL EDUCATION PROGRAMMES
Monoglossic
It develops proficiency in two languages from a monolingual perspective
Subtractive
1. Submersion model
Children speak L1 (minority) and go to the school and all instruction is carried out in a majority L2.
2. Transitional model
This model is addresed to migrants. At the school a child uses L1 during the first year facilating access to L2. In the 2nd year L1 will desappear
Additive
3. Maintenance model
Education is in two languages, L2 is dominant language but students sure in L1 (minority)
4. Prestigious model
Two prestigious languages are present but during the instrucition are kept separate.
5. Inmmersion
: It values students' mother tongue.
Early immersion:
Student starts to learn L2 in pre-school level. L1 is present and is in no danger.
Delay immersion:
L2 usually is taught in elementary or primary school
Total 100% and partial immersion 50%-90%

Heterogolissic:
It is related to plurilingualism.

4. Immersion Revitalization model
It revitalizes the suppressed language practices (minority language) in childhood.
5. Developmental model
It recoveries, develops and protects minority language in the younger people.
Dynamic
6. Two - way immersion model or Poly - directional
It develops pluriligualism. Students can communicate in at least three language. It is originally from Europe
It is a dual language programme.
It develops bilingualism and support the minoritary language. It is originally from USA.
7. CLIL model
It consists in teaching and learning curricular content through the use of an addcitional language
