2. Proactive Approach
Teacher creates a student wellbeing team (with parents, administrator and a specialist)

Involves continuous monitoring and assessment as well as adjustments to help academic/behavioural achievements.

The team employs a differentiated curriculum for the student to follow that addresses his/her specific needs.
3. Re-evaluation
After a set period of time, the student is re-evaluated by the wellbeing team.
Depending on the progress made or problems presented, the team will adjust the education plan accordingly.

Therefore, no official special education evaluation needs to be done to prove eligibility for a government funded education plan.**

Challenges
- Signs are often misinterpreted by teachers or parents
- Parents may refuse help due to negative stigma surrounding special needs

- In 2016, 1.22 million students repeated a grade. Of that number, 76% had not been identified as struggling students (Identifying Struggling Students, 2017).

Adjusting Questions

This allows struggling students to feel included in classroom tasks without drawing attention to their struggles.
Scaffolding
Begin lessons with the most basic of information and slowly build up to more difficult material incrementally.
Multi-Sensory Approach
Stimulates the brain in a variety of ways, making it more likely that a child's learning preference is included.
