Theories of motivation
Hersburg
Herzberg - Thinks workers can be affected by motivators and hygiene factors and both will prevent them becoming demotivated and quitting.
Mayo
Mayo - Considered workers meeting Social needs at work will get them to work harder as a positive relationship between colleagues will become a great source of motivation.
Maslow
Maslow - Believed workers that different levels of needs could be changed with different levels of motivation as they will also be less likely to quit.
Diseconomies of scale
Coordination - it can be difficult to make sure every location where a unit for your business has the right resources to provide their purpose for the business.
Communication - Unfortunately, a large down-side to having a huge business is making sure orders get around to everyone, as some people might unaware of their current objective(s) as the information of the order has yet to reach their sector of the business.
Control - The bigger the business is, the harder it can be to enforce full control over the said business. This however is likely to result in mistakes and allow the workers to get away with things that they wouldn’t otherwise.
