Boundaries/Borders:
Types of Boundaries:
-
Physical/Natural: Natural Boundary: caused by mountains, rivers, lakes, etc. Nothing man made involved; all natural
-
UNCLOS Treaty: Treaty that helps countries to define borders in the ocean and how far their borders can extend from shore
-
Contiguous: A country can prevent other countries from doing harmful things in this area (stopping countries from doing things that will harm environment in the area) (0-24 miles)
Exclusive Economic Zone: A country can claim this zone up to 200 miles from their border. It can help the country to claim islands and other land (0-200 miles)
-
Median Line Principle: If there is not room for each country to have 200+ miles out, the area will be split among the countries evenly.
Shapes of States:
-
-
-
Fragmented: State that has multiple islands or pieces of territory that are not inside the contiguous zone

causes of inequality: Many countries and parts of the world are stereotyped. These cause the regions and countries to be stuck where they are and not climb up in the world economy or advance in society. Many countries have unfair disadvantages. For example Africa, it is very hot and dry, and does not have anything good besides minerals. Most countries in Africa are in the Primary Sector. Africa has bad ports making it hard for trade. Many regions of the world have disadvantages
that cause unfairness and makes the economy much more rough for certain people and states.
