It strikes me that the three texts in this category -- "Soy Yo," "The House on Mango Street," and "Her Body and Other Parties," -- are actively involved not just in "building home anew," but specifically in building new homes for women, away from or in response to misogynistic oppression. There is, therefore, a notion of the colonization of the female body that can be though of as attendant to the colonization of the Americas. This concatenation is laid out, in all its complexity, by Gloria Anzaldua in "Borderlands/La Frontera"
