Van der Lubbe never disputed his role in the Reichstag fire. However, he was insistent that it was only him that committed this act and that is was NOT a communist conspiracy.
1 dutsch, 1 KPD, 3 comintern (job to spread communism).
Verdict
Only Van der Lubbe was found guilty and sentenced to death (convicted), while his fellow defendants were found not guilty.

Judge Bünger verdict: There had been a Communist conspiracy to burn down the Reichstag, but declared, with the exception of Van der Lubbe, that there was insufficient evidence to connect the accused to the fire or the alleged conspiracy.

However, Torgler was taken into protective custody by the police until 1935. After being released he changed his name and moved away from Berlin.
