Compression is usually good but there can be a trade off between compression rates and quality. Web developers need to ensure they use compressed file formats that still keep a quality that is acceptable to end users.
Lossless compression keeps all of the original data. However, there is usually a lower compression ratio which means file sizes tend to be larger than files that make use of lossy compression.
