GIF
GIF files limited number of available colours makes them unsuitable for storing photographs. Instead they are often used for icons and cartoons and low quality images, often in animated form.
Resolution
The resolution of an image is important. The resolution is the total number of pixels used to create an image.
The higher the resolution, the greater the quality, but the larger the file size.
The lower the resolution, the smaller the file size, but the poorer the quality.

MP3 and WAV
Because MP3 makes use of lossy compression, the same audio stream results in a smaller file for an MP3 file than it would if captured as a WAV file.
Both WAV and MP3 capture sound at 44.1KHz per second. You can reduce the sampling rate which will reduce the file size. However, this would also reduce the quality of the sound because you are not capturing as much data.
