        The "conquerer" or the "castaway"
        
        We look for and are subconsciously drawn to abide by laws and societal standards, even when left entirely alone. Is creating a new society related to creating a new home? He keeps aspects of his American culture, even on Mars.
        
        He listens to American music and watches American television.
      - "They say once you grow crops somewhere, you have officially 'colonized' it. So technically, I colonized Mars."
        
        The concept of "colonization" inherently means the creation of a home based on survival and new societal structures; however, this concept is also associated with taking away existing culture.

        "'Shouldn't you be at home?'... 'I haven't found one yet.'" Paddington displays the need we all feel for a home and finding belonging wherever we go. He finds himself lost and unprepared for how to be accepted into a household in a place full of people who seem indifferent to his fate.
        
        Paddington eventually finds his home because the mother opens up her heart, and the family grows to love him; the people inside the home are what make it a safe, loving place.
        
        The explorer promises Paddington's family that they will "always have a home in London."

      - What "makes up" a home? We carry around a sense of comfort with us through our portable belongings.

        The movie's "hopeful" ending is that we could restart history and go back to a parallel Garden of Eden ("EVE"). However, this is actually a dark prediction that humans would repeatedly destroy our one home if given the chance.
        
        Why do we not take better care of the one home that we all share?
- - - - The physical home that we grew up in is usually associated with homesickness; however, we can also miss the emotional atmosphere, such as a now-extinct family dynamic.
    - - This story replaces the common term "motherland" with a new connotation of distance. The mother is seen as traditionally nurturing and central to growth; however, the father may just be a genetic contributor. The father may be more of a distant memory than a constant presence.
  - - - Dorothy has to repeat this phrase to go back to Kansas; therefore, completing her journey, she has learned the "lesson" that home will always be the best place.
        
        Does this story imply that we should be wary to venture beyond our own backyard? Is this a message aimed at women?
    - - The same people appear in both Kansas and Oz as similar characters; the people we love will always follow us (even if just in mind and heart) to new homes.
  - - - Amir must return to the home he was forced from in order to atone for his sins by saving Hassan's son. The Afghanistan that Amir remembers is not entirely positive; however, he had a very privileged life and experienced relatively less strife. Therefore, people from the same home may not have the same experiences or the same memories.
    - - Childhood and hometowns are such prevalent themes because whether positive, traumatic, or both, we can never suppress/forget how they formed us.

  - - - Why do we repeatedly seek out a sense of home and belonging? Is it a mindset?
        
        Can a "sense of home" ever truly be tangible?

  - - - As the reader, we may judge Charlotte for quickly giving up any hope of a loving marriage or a strong, independent life in exchange for a stable estate and unappealing husband. However, in reality, this era forced most women to gain status and "purpose" in life from the men with whom they surrounded themselves. # #
    - - Judgment of the "worth" of a lady based on her success in marriage and the upkeep/grandeur of her estate #
