PRISS
ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS
-
I will work in line with GDPR and
data protection laws by keeping
participants anonymous using codes and keeping
their data confidential.
No harm should come to my participants
and so, I will need to be aware that my topic may cause upset/ discomfort. I will also ensure that participants have full
disclosure via the participant information sheet, understand that they are not obligated to participate and are aware of their right to withdraw at any point.
DATA
I will only use data for the intended purposes (My dissertation) and not pass it onto others. I will then destroy all data by a specified date after my research is complete by deleting it or will destroy it immediately if a participant withdraws their data.
Audio recordings of data will be kept in an encrypted file on a mobile device and I will transcribe sections of the interviews and process the questionnaire responses alongside these so that the data can be kept securely on encrypted devices (USB/Laptop).
-
METHOD
1- I will need to obtain written consent from the headteacher
acting as a 'gatekeeper' to allow my research to take place within their school
2- Then, I will select 6 participants (teachers) from
across all phases/key stages at random. They will then receive a 'participant information sheet' and a 'consent form' so that they can be aware of the methods/ processes involved and make a decision about their own participation.
3- Next, I will send out a pilot of my
questionnaire to my peers from University
in order to ensure my questions are relevant
and clear. I will then make any necessary
amendments and send out a final questionnaire to
my participants. I will keep their responses anonymous and
use a number coding system instead of their names to identify
their data should they wish to withdraw.
4- Then, I will arrange and draw-up an
interviewing schedule which should not
coincide with teaching time or any other
responsibilities myself or my participants
have to fulfil. Once this is done, I will conduct
face-to face interviews with participants
and audio-record these whilst taking some
notes- participants do not have to answer all
questions and can pause or stop interviews at any
time.
