beta blockers -- they have a calming effect and reduce muscle tremors so they increase chance of winning in sports like archery but have the side affects of slowing down your heart rate so there's less oxygen being delivered and sleep disturbance
diuretics -- these make you pas urine to achieve weight loss which will help boxers reach there weight group. the side effects of these are dehydration and nausea
narcotic analgesics -- these increase the performers pain threshold. they would be used in sports like football. the side effects are addiction. depression, liver damage and concentration loss
peptide hormones -- epo increases oxygen level in the muscles and hgh helps increase the strength in the muscles and burn more fat but the side effects of them can be arthritis, risk of heart attack, blood clots and stroke
stimulants -- this reduces tiredness and increase heart rate so there is more oxygen being delivered to the muscles. sports like boxing rugby and ice hockey might take them. the side effects are insomnia, aggression heart rate becomes irregular
blood doping -- this is when people get blood drawn so that there body creates more red blood cells then puts the blood back in so they have loads of red blood cells which means that there muscles are getting a lot of oxygen so the perform better. long distance runners would use this. the side effects are that they could have a stroke due to the blood clots, infection form the equipment
