Total Penectomy: removal of penis, some side effects include difficulty peeing, no sexual desire,
Bilateral orchidectomy: removal of testes. unable to produce sperm for fertilization
Abortions: available for those who do not wish to keep the child, can be performed up to 20 weeks (2nd trimester)
GOOD
IUD: to prevent pregnany by making uterus mucus thick and blocking sperm. side effects are shorter periods, irregular bleeding
vasectomy: sterilizing the male to prevent semen from traveling up vas defernse, side effects include hematoma in scrotum, blood in semen, infection/swelling
Adoption, able to give the child to a family who is unable to reporduce
Male reproductive system includes
epididymis: brings sperm to maturity
vas deferense: transports mature sperm to urethra
testes: produce sperm, secrete testosterone
seminal vesicle: produces 60% of sperm
scrotum: holds testies, climate control
prostate: secrete prostate fluid
Female reproductive system includes
ovaries: produce oocyte for fertilization
fallopian tubes: transport ova from ovary to uterus, moves sperm to fertilize egg, transports zygote to uterus for implantation
uterus: nurturing fertilized ovum, holds fetus/placenta until birth
vagina: used for mensturation, sex, birth canal
mammary glands: responsible for production of milk
breast: produce milk for infant
Ovarian cycle
Day 14: release of egg from ovaries,ovulation
Day 15-28: period where corpus leuteum is active
Day 1-13: vesicle follicles secrete increased amt of estrogen, one becomes the dominant follicle
Uterine cycle
Day 5-13: follicular rupture and formation of corpus leuteum
Day 14-28: corpus leuteum turns into corpus albicans when not used
Day 1-4: menstural, uterus sheds layers of endometrium,day 4 the growing ovarian follicles start to produce more estrogen
