1)Introduction
Gases and vapors are commonly encountered in the workplace at normal atmospheric pressure or elevated pressure.
Vapors are produced through evaporation of volatile liquids. The risks they present can be flammable and explosive.
Gases and vapor are henceforth, referred to collectively gases
2)There are three categories of risk
- Risk of explosion by flammable gases
- Oxygen
Risk of asphyxiation by oxygen displacement
Risk of increase of flammability by oxygen enrichment
- Risk of poisoning by toxic gases
