married couple in 40s looking to switch off of hormonal birth-control pill maybe?
wife goes to her gynecologist for a birth control method. she is prescribed a hormonal birth-control pill and sticks with that for 10-15yrs
couple gets married and settled and decided to not not try. they have 2 children and decide they are done after 2
couple starts dating and having pre marital sex , they decide to use preventative measures until they were ready for children
switches to non hormonal birth control copper implant
.8% risk of pregnancy
minimally invasive procedure with little recovery
works physically and chemically as the T creates an inflammatory response ad the copper is toxic to the egg and sperm
she will not experience side effects post procedure and will return to her normal mensural cycle until menopause
great option for couple

switches to sterilization for male
.2% risk of pregnancy
small not too invasive procedure for the male with a very very low risk of pregnancy
vas deferens are cut, tied or blocked. is permanent but some forms are reversible
this would be one of the couples best methods in terms of no side effects from hormonal contraceptives
sterilization for female
.5% risk of pregnancy
minimally invasive procedure that will have a permanent result and in some cases can be revered.
physical blocker to fertilization as fallopian tubes are blocked, tied etc
this is a great method for the couple as they are looking to have no side effects like the ones of the pill
continues on birth control pills
5% risk of pregnancy
she wants to stop because of the possible side effects but if none of the other methods are appealing to her maybe best to stay on her routine
releases progesterone preventing ovulation and thickening cervical mucous
Not the option she is looking for, but is effective
switches to a hormonal birth control implant in arm
.1% risk of pregnancy
she will continue to have same symptoms as she is having on the pill but less risky incase she forgets to take the pill. Acts as a hormonal and physical birth-control
for long term use the implant will have to be switched out every 3 years. works by releasing progesterone to thicken cervical mucous, sperm cannot swim to egg
while effective and low maintaince she will still experience the side effects of hormonal birth control
condoms for male
14% risk of pregnancy
works as a physical blocker
can be super inconvenient and you must use it every single time to be effective
not their best option but no side effects so it is effective
Depo shot
.3% risk of pregnancy
she will need to continually get shots, but will not have to take pill every single day
releases progesterone preventing ovulation and thickening cervical mucous
not what she is looking for in terms of side effects but is lower maintaince and still an option
switches to a hormonal birth control implant in vagina
2% risk of pregnancy
quick procedure and not too painful. needs to be switched out about every 5 years
releases progesterone which thickens cervical mucous and suppresses ovulation
while effective this will most likely continue the side effects she is trying to get away from, but still an option
switches to no method and just pulls out
19% risk of pregnancy
while this is more effective than no method, this is still not a great method as there is a great risk of pregnancy
by withdraw it reduces the risk of sperm fertilizing the egg
not the best method for the couple but she will not have the side effects of hormonal
switches to using no methods at all
85% risk of pregnancy
If she is still meunstrating she is fertile and it would almost guarantee pregnancy
not a good method considering the couple does not want any more children
switches to complete abstinence
0% risk of pregnancy
100% effective but maybe not the best for a marriage. Sex is a proponent of the relationship
