Changes made to the performance
We added in the airhostess, offering drinks to make the setting clear
Also common noises found on an aeroplane
We added in an extra actress who changed from being backstage
During the phone dialogue, Danny and I gradually moved to the front of the stage, to create effect
The extras used physical theatre to create effect at the back of the stage.
We added frantic assembly to emphasise effect when saying the line: "Dad, there it is. The towers." This is a major line
We used a blackout and introduced a (torch) spotlight when Jennifer is in the air during the lift
We created a round/by/through scene to highlight the moment when the mother leaves
We paid attention to the idea of exposition, and cut a huge scene of dialogue, replacing it with pure actions and music playing in the background
During the first round/by/through scene, we added dialogue to create feeling
When Jennifer gets teased at school, we changed that by adding in 'hymn hands' which resulted in being very effective
During the audition scene, we changed it so each round/by/through move was the same. The repetition worked well.
We also added in dialogue for the 'cast directors' which rhymed with the sentence that Jennifer had previously said each time.
During the last audition, we added in a real monologue, to create the perfect atmosphere
Towards the end, we decided to build the towers again to end it like we started it.
As each person put their stool down to build the tower, we each decided to read out of a fact from the event of 9/11
After the last lift, we all added in a chorus line, "The event of 9/11 took place on the 11th September 2001"
We chose to finish the piece by Danny and Jennifer standing at the front of the stage sharing a crucial father/daughter moment
For the last line, we included a blackout and the torch spotlight once again
We decided to start powerfully but having a sheet draped over the towers with a projector showing a video of the towers, with voices of real conversations speaking over
