Germany had maneuvered so that even if Russia partiality mobilized they would still go to war, resulting in a blitz offence from Germany

Russia had anxiety against Germany and Austria-Hungry due to there plans to expand into the Baltic and Serb regions
Russia was on the defensive due to previous war against Japan in 1905 leading to Russia join Britain and France in the Triple Entry
Russia main aim was to protect their representation of protector of Slav people and keep acess to the Mediterranean sea open.
Astraia-Hungry declared war on Serbia drawing in Russia and its alies and Hungry with Germany and the Ottoman empire.
Tsar made a personal move to avoid war with Germany by exchanging series of telegrams hoping conflict would be avoided

In 1914 duma had shown total support for the tsar, theought the duration of the war the duma had been requesting being re-called to aid with the military
The Tsar did not work with unions but theses did show support for the war effort but minimised as the war progrssed

THis was a poor choice as it was a russian tradition for the presentry it enabled people to deal with the harsh conditions of life

This was not a good detion as it took him away from govment allowing rumures of the Tsarina and Rasputin to build in addition he is liable for all that is to go wrong
