Indian Monsoon
South West Monsoon
-
Shift in ITCZ
ITCZ ranges between 5 degree. In summer ITCZ shifts north wards and will come over Ganga plains or foothills of Himalayas. It is the area where trade winds converge. Winds with moisture will be pulled towards Indian peninsular
Role of Himalayas
It is to create a void to keep low pressure over India. It acts as a barrier for winds not to cross Indian subcontinent and there by have maximum precipitation over India
Tibetan Plateau
Gets heated up creating Low pressure. This causes the air to rise. This will impact the 'Tropical Easterly Jet Stream'. Similarly a high pressure is created over Madagascar called Mascarene High
Tropical Easterly Jet Stream travels from Tibetan Low to Mascarene high forming a loop of jet stream. This will give push to the south west trade winds causing sudden outburst of rainfall
