Transformations
Dilations
Definition: a transformation, which is used to resize the object
-
Real-life examples: For example, starbucks need to produce different sized cups.
-
preserves the shape and orientation of the figure, but changes its size.
Reflection
Characteristics:If the surface is smooth and shiny, like glass, water or polished metal, the light will reflect at the same angle as it hit the surface.
Definition:

In Geometry, a reflection is known as a flip. A reflection is a mirror image of the shape.

-
How to transform it: when we flip a figure over a line. Rotation is when we rotate a figure a certain degree around a point.
Translation
Definition:
A translation is a type of transformation that takes each point in a figure and slides it the same distance in the same direction.
Charecteristics: line segments are taken to line segments of the same length; angles are taken to angles of the same measure; and. lines are taken to lines and parallel lines are taken to parallel lines.
How it looks:

A translation in math moves a shape left or right and/or up or down.
-
Real life examples: elevators, Cars moving through streets, and moving homes from place to place.
Rotation
Definition: a type of transformation that takes each point in a figure and rotates it a certain number of degrees around a given point.
characteristics: transformation that turns a figure about a fixed point called the center of rotation.
Real-life examples: Amusement park rides, such as Ferris wheels or carousels, also rotate.
-
use Transform. Rotate, which uses Euler Angles. If you want to match values you see in the Inspector, use the Quaternion. eulerAngles property on the returned Quaternion.
