Special Education Process in my Classroom: Katherine Guevara
ARRANGED A MEETING WITH OLIVIA (STUDENT SUPPORT SPECIALIST)
I collaborated with the student support specialist. Olivia and I shared ideas with one another on how to create personalized learning for my student Youtang. Olivia also shared strategies with me to implement in my classroom.
CHECKING IN
Olivia checked in every week on Fridays. She observed Youtang for half the day and see if the strategies implemented helped his behaviors.
NO SPECIAL EDUCATION TEAM IN AVENUES SHENZHEN
The next meeting with the parents will be how to find support outside of the school. However, first they would have to visit a doctor that can give the all clear of seeing a special education therapist.
The School has a list of special education support that parents can find in Hong Kong.

ARRANGED MEETING WITH PARENTS
We started off by celebrating Youtang's achievements so far. Then we asked questions about Youtang's play at home, previous school, health, and asked them to share any stories about his past. Following that Olivia and I shared our observations and concerns. ( We can not diagnose any student under the age of 6.)
Discuss the same strategies being used in class, vocabulary, and visual cue cards to be implemented at home as well.
Olivia and I check on Youtang periodically. I receive extra support three days in a week so I can dive into Youtang's interest and create a learning environment where he can thrive.
I observed signs of learning difficulties, as well as a physical disability (weak core and hip imbalance,) he demonstrated emotional and behavioral difficulties. I noticed he was impulsive, made no eye contact and ignored verbal cues.
