RESEARCH SUMMARY
The Effective Teaching report (Ko and Sammons, 2013) presents a thorough review of the research literature on effective teaching and suggests that effective teachers:
• are clear about teaching goals;
• are knowledgeable about curriculum content and the strategies for teaching it;
• communicate to their learners what is expected of them and why;
• make expert use of existing teaching materials in order to devote more time to practices that enrich and clarify the content;
•are knowledgeable about their learners adapting teaching to their needs and anticipation misconceptions in their existing knowledge
• teach meta cognitive strategies and give learners opportunities to master them;
• address higher - as well as lower-level cognitive objectives'
