How Climate Change is Affecting the Oceans
problems
the hot air from climate change heats up the water
The oceans are becoming more acidic due to CO2 in the water
luca's ocean problems: coral reefs and some sea life is dying from ocean acidification
Effects of fish farming
deaths of coral reefs from ocean acidification
luca's problem: a lot of co2 that is in the air ends up in the ocean, lakes and rivers
luca's problem: coral reefs also dying from coral bleaching
Effects of Overfishing

Brayden's Each year, hundreds of thousands of fish escape farms and threaten the genetic diversity and survival of native species
Solutions
Eliott Solution to acidification: Is there a non-toxic alkaline we could add to the oceans to temporarily help with acidification
Eliott solution to ocean plastic pollution new efficient, and less expensive ways to recycle plastics.
Institute safe catching limits.
When a fishery is continually assessed and catching limits are scientifically determined, then the total number of fish that are caught will not negatively affect the region. These limits must be placed outside of any economic incentives or political influence in order for them to be effective
Brayden's solution to fish farming: if we where to build the enclosures on land it would decrease the chance of fish escaping the enclosures
Evidence
Evidence of Problems
the great barrier reef and lots of other reefs has lost half of its corals due to ocean acidification and coral bleaching

crustaceans shells are being damaged from ocean acidification
Evidence of Solutions
Eliott's Solutions
Eliott evidence of new ways of recycling plastic: A revolutionary way of recycling plastic would be creating plastic banks in areas of poverty. These banks would work is how any bank or exchange works. The user inputs plastic and the bank outputs currency like dollars. (where I found this info)

Eliott evidence of removal of acidification: A potential way to remove acid from the water would be adding Olivine to an acid affected area to temporarily remove some of the acid by swapping out magnesium ions for acidic Protons (where I found this information

Ryder's Evidence: When a fishery is continually assessed and catching limits are scientifically determined, then the total number of fish that are caught will not negatively affect the region. These limits must be placed outside of any economic incentives or political influence in order for them to be effective
