If you speak to a source that is not authorized to give information, use it as a guide to find a source that is authorized to speak on the issue.
Research what other news outlets are reporting. If there are several different reports out there, find a credible source.
If someone had researched the sources, exercised caution and restraint in regards to the duty to report factual news, and not fake news, this tragedy of having multiple different stories out there might not have happened.
