        5 students answered most, including the most difficult of the pre-assessment questions correctly
        
        5 students answered 6 or more questions correctly including the last question – writing a conclusion.
        
        For my star students that did very well
        
        I will modify step 4’s question and add 2 steps (step 5 and 6).
        Step 4’s question: “Draw a conclusion about how color helps some animals hide.” I will change this to – Draw a conclusion about how color helps living things (plants and animals) survive (hide or hunt).
        Step 5: Inquire from the students to think of any other things that help living things survive in a place.
        Step 6: Picture Interpretation – I will show the students a cold environment and ask them to describe what type of animal would survive in this type of environment.
        
        12 students have some knowledge about the topic as shown in their score, but need to develop higher order thinking skills
        
        12 students answered 3 to 5 questions correctly and struggled with the last question – writing a conclusion.
        
        For my students that did average
        
        Modifying step 4 (writing a conclusion):
        These students understood the concept of adaptation but struggled putting their answers on paper with the last open-ended question. I will modify the pre-assessment by allowing for shorter-sentence answers and providing guidance for the last question.
        Step 4’s question: “Draw a conclusion about how color helps some animals hide.” I will change the answer format to fill in the missing information – Some animals are the same color as the environment, because it helps them hide / hunt / camouflage.
        
        5 students have limited knowledge about the topic, of which 3 are struggling with language and are at different reading levels and 2 students who have little to no comprehension of the topic and need to be tested further for special needs
        
        5 students answered less than 3 questions correctly.
        
        3 students are ELLs and 2 students might have special needs
        
        For my students that did poorly
        
        ELL: I will provide multiple choice options for step 1, 2, and 3. Step 4 will be shortened to match these students’ grammar and writing skills.
        Special needs: My instructions and expectations will be in written and verbal format. Stronger students will be paired with the special needs students to help with accompanying tasks. Step 1,2, and 3 will be multiple choice and step 4 will be shortened and a word-bank will be added. I will help these students one-on-one with completing / answering step 4.
