1) Since the patient has uncontrolled Type 1 Diabetes, which has resulted in diabetic retinopathy, he is at risk for injury from his blindness that is a result of a sensory dysfunction (Ackley et al., 2017) .
2) Patient is at risk for acute injury related to diabetic neuropathy resulting in sensory dysfunction as evidenced by his decrease in pain sensation in his tongue. Moreover, the patient is at risk for an airway obstruction, due to his swollen tongue; however, the patient was intubated.
3) Patient is at risk for reoccurrence of DKA, due to not properly following his diabetic care plan.
4) Patient is at risk for cerebrovascular, cardiovascular, and peripheral vascular disease as well as nephropathy, integumentary complications, infection, and psychological issues (Lewis et al., 2017).
