ASSURE (2.STATING OBJECTIVES: office…
ASSURE
ASSURE is an instructional design model that has the goal of producing more effective teaching and learning. “ASSURE” is an acronym that stands for the 6 steps in the model. :pencil2:
1.ANALYZING LEARNERS:
There must be a match between the characteristics of the learner and the content of the methods, media and materials.
The analysis should include;
-
-
EX; A class full of 11th grade high school students. They are skilled in the use of computers. And, they are tactile learners.
-
2.STATING OBJECTIVES:
Statement of objectives for the learning module consists of a specification of what the learners will be able to do as a result of the instruction.
ASSURE model adopts an ABCD format in writing proper objectives, so that instructors understand what is supposed to happen in their instruction:
-
-
-
EX: A lesson that is designed to meet Common Core Standards for Language Arts. Objective 1: The students will be able to determine the atmosphere created in act 1, scene 1 of the play.
-
3.SELECT, MODIFY, OR DESIGN MATERIALS:
This is the step to decide what method and approach could be adopted to support the objectives.
The instructional designer also brings the possibilities of technologies into the conversation.
EX: Students will use audio and texts to
create assignments.
Some selection criteria for choosing the material are;
-
-
-
-
4.UTILIZE MATERIALS:
This step in the ASSURE process concerns making a plan as how to utilize the technology, media, and materials that you have selected.
The following "5ps" process apply to either teacher-based or student-centered instruction:
Preview the Technology, Media, and Materials
Prepare the Technology, Media, and Materials
EX: Computers will be checked and ready for use.
-
-
-
-
6.EVALUATE:
The impact of teaching on student learning is evaluated. This includes an evaluation of teaching strategies and the technology, media, and materials used.
The evaluation should match the objective, and both learner and instructor performance should be evaluated.
EX: Student activities will be evaluated using the rubric.
Were the media, technology, tool, or materials effective?
-
-
5.REQUIRE LEARNER RESPONSE:
In this step, instructor and instructional designer should describe how to get each learner actively and individually involved in the lesson.
Incorporating questions and answers, discussions, group work, and other ways get students actively involved.
EX: Student participation in this lesson will include large activities. The lesson will begin with student assuming roles and reading act 1, scene 1 of Macbeth.
