Brain sends message to the motor neurons which travel down the axons and influence the muscle they are attached to
Calcium binds to Acetylcholine (ach) in the vesicles, vesicles move towards the membrane and merge.
The merger of the vesicle and the membrane allows for the release of molecules which cross over to the various sodium and chloride channels on the muscle

Tetany - involuntary muscle convulsion, signals from nerves come in fast enough succession to force the muscle into a constant contraction
Summation - a 2nd sudden jolt to the muscle, usually overlapping or "piggy backing" onto what would otherwise have just been a twitch
While sounding like a spell taught at Hogwarts, Clostridium Tetani is a bacteria that can be found in many places. It typically enters the bloodstream through either cuts or deep wounds causing Tetanus
The infection comes from the spores entering the central nervous system and producing a toxin called tetanospasmin, aka Tetanus
Tetanus attacks the nerve signals blocking signals from your spinal cord to your muscles, which can lead to severe muscle spasms, which can be fatal
Tetanus is usually avoidable in the USA due to the widespread availability of the vaccine, of which the patient never received, let alone was up to date on
By admission of the using of "dirty" needles, the tattoo created a direct path for these spores to enter the bloodstream
By blocking nerve signals, the toxin causes severe muscle spasms in the body as, for lack of a better term, the muscles are no longer under your control. These spasms can be powerful enough to tear the muscles themselves and even cause fractures in the neighboring bones.
Patient could end up with lockjaw as the muscles clamp down, but more severely could wind up with septicemia (blood poisoning), kidney failure, could possible suffocate, and even suffer from cardiac arrest.
While the tetanus toxin itself is a serious concern, the other effects it can have on the body are also a valid fear as they can be life altering or even fatal.
Tetanus can cause a variety of major problems as it attacks the muscles and having muscles in your neck, back, face, abdomen and your heart itself being a muscle, can lead to severe and even fatal problems.
