WHERE WE ARE TODAY
Most of new report development effort carried by one team member
Limited capacity leading to strict prioritization; reports developed and rolled out at slower pace (one by one vs simultaneously) then if more members were engaged
Advanced expertise resides with one core member and not being getting transferred to others
Reduced need, urgency, and incentive for other team members to take ownership of their reports, and learn and use PBI actively
Some team members unclear about direction, strategy, their role on the team and contribution... driving morale and engagement down (anecdotal evidence)
Successful build of reports (most recently PdS MT Pack)
WHAT WE WANT?
Virtual team stated goal (from Project Charter):
" Where applicable provide, through a dedicated ‘virtual’ team, comprehensive digitalized on-line reporting in Power BI or Server SQL Reporting Services with unified layout."
Empower and upskill Finance members (taking responsibility and ownership of digitalizing reports through PBI
Be leaner and more agile - cut down build time by decentralizing creation of new reports in PBI (vs single pocket of knowledge, effort and expertise)
For Finance community to embrace and take advantage of PBI potential (to realize efficiencies, drive digitalization effort..)
REVISIT WHOM TO HAVE ON THE TEAM?
Reduce number of team members to be more responsive and agile?
Reflect and be realistic about manpower capacity constraints
REVIEW DELIVERABLES (for 2019 & 2020)
Revisit pipeline and scope
Prioritize projects and assign ownership
Agree monitoring tools to track progress (via action log?..)
Adjust IKOs for 2019 to reflect new circumstances?
BOOST TEAM SPIRIT
Communication venues
Face to face regular meetings / worskhops
Sharing best practice (via 'knowledge hub' & involving other PBI communities, e.g. Pavel Kuca's)
Steering committee
Virtual team newsletter (on an irregular basis?)
Discussion forum? Get feedback from broader team (via MS Forms)?
Invite speakers to workshops (e.g. Ralf) to raise project's status
CHANGE PERCEPTION / COMMUNICATE SMARTER / WIN HEARTS AND MINDS
Identify and realize quick wins (e.g. reports near completion..)
Demonstrate to the team achievements to date... share positive feedback from business (beyond Finance)
Square with the team about where we are now and what we want to do about it.
Seek team members' assessment of the situation (recommendations and ideas).
Get team behind strategy and goals, incorporate their input to ensure buy-in.
