Sustainability of Natural Resources
Humans and There Enviorment
3 ways to help the environment is cleaning up, chiming in snd conserving
For the last 200 years humans have greatly impacted the environment
During the industrial revolution there was more people who caused more pollution
Using nonrenewable resources causes pollution and will eventually run out
Humans need to take action to improve our environment for our survival
Natural Resources
Anything people value
We use energy to power resources to power our citys
Plastic is not a natural resource, unlike air, water, plants and animals
2 types of resources renewable and nonrenewable
Fossil fuels are nonrenewable, unlike solar power
Reducing, reusing and recycling can help us conserve our resources
Population Growth
Earth can support a certain amount of people
About 200 years ago, the human population increased a lot
More humans on Earth is causing more pollution and using our resources faster
Humans can reduce there use to help with conservation
In about 10 years, there will be 8 billion people on Earth
Recycling is a good way to conserve our resources
Climate Change
Global warming is about the average tempreture of the earth
Climate change happens naturally but humans make it happen faster
Global warming is cause by green house gases which trap the heat
Humans burning fossil fuels is producing more carbon dioxide
Trees remove carbon dioxide, so we need more trees
Global warming is causing bad weather and diseases
Soil
Mix of rocks, water and dead stuff
Weathering breaks rocks into small pieces called sediments
Erosion moves the sediments to other places
Plants need rocks and humus to grow
Soil has 3 diffrent layers and top soil has the most humus
Plants cannot grow in bedrock, so we must protect our top soil
Air Pollution
Greenhouse gasses contribute to air pollution
Smog is a mix of smoke and fog which has ozone in it
Fossil fuels release soot, dust, carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide when burnt
Ozone layer protects earth from solar radiation
Gasoline releases lots of dangerous chemicals into the air
Ozone is made of 3 oxygen molecules
Greenhouse Effect
The warming of the Earth
Greenhouse gases, such as CO2, warns the Earth
Without the greenhouse gases, Earth would be too cold for life
To many greenhouse gasses make the Earth too hot. (Global Warming)
Humans are causing more greenhouse gases
Burning fossil fuels and cows producing methane can be reduced by humans
