sustainability of natural resources
climate change
the earth's temperature is increasing faster than normal
Global warming is about the temperature of the earth
global warming is caused by more greenhouse gases
the gases trap the heat on the earth (greenhouse effect)
trees remove some of the carbon dioxide
climate change is causes more more bad weather and diseases, but we can fix the problems by conserving our resources
people using fossil fuels is producing more carbon dioxide
humans and their enviorment
for the last 200 years, humans have greatly impacted the environment
during the industrial revolution, human population increased greatly and caused lots of pollution.
the 3 ways to help the environment are conserving, chiming in, and cleaning up
using non-renewable resources such as plastic is causing major problems.
humans can do things to help the envrionment, because we need to for our survival
natural resources
Natural resources are Anything in nature that people value
air, water, fossils, plants, and animals are natural resources.
plastic is not a natural resource
their are 2 types which are renewable and nonrenewable
reducing, reusing, and recycling will conserve our resources
population growth
earth can only hold a certain amount of people
About 200 years, there was a great increase in the number of people
more people causes more pollution and resources veing used up faster
in about 10 years,
soil
soil is a mix of water, rocks, and dead stuff
weathering breaks rocks into small pieces called sediments
erosion moves the sediment to different places
rocks and humus help plants to grow
soil has different layers and the topsoil has the most humus
plants cannot grow in bedrock, so we must protect the topsoil
air pollution
ozone is O3 and forms smog. ozone protects the earth.
acid rain is caused by air pollution
CO2 and SO2 are green house gases
wildfires, volcanic eruptions, and cows also contribute to global warming.
car engines, power plants, factories, and even furnaces and stoves cause air pollution
greenhouse effect
greenhouse effect is the warming of earth.
greenhouse gases such as CO2, traps heat on the earth
without greenhouse gases, earth would be too cold to live on
too much greenhouse gases makes the earth too hot. (global warming)
global warming causes problems, such as floods, storms, diseases, etc.
humans are causing global warming by burning fossil fuels and raising lots of cows (methane)
recycling
