Malnutrition
Necessary for other systems
Cardiac/Circulatory = Main function is to transport nutrients to cells & waste from cells.
Nervous = Nerve impulses travel by movement of charged sodium, potassium, calcium, and chloride atoms.
Muscular = Uses cellular energy for movement, without adequate supple muscle function suffers.
Endocrine = Regulates appetite. Nutrient absorption, storage & usage. Also reproduction. Protein deficiency impairs gonadal-hormone release prevent reproduction.
Immune = Seek, recruit, attack & destroy invaders. Lack of nutrients increase chances of getting infection. Zinc, Vitamins A, B6, C, D, & E provide benefits to a functioning immune system.
Urinary = Eliminates waste. Lack of nutrients/malnutrition will decrease glomerulus filtration rate & renal plasma flow. Also lowers capability to concentrate urine & excrete an acid load.
Nutrients uses in body
Macromolecules
Lipids = Protective cushion around organs, insulation, & aide in absorption of fat-soluble vitamins.
Carbs = Used for fuel by body cells to produce ATP.
Proteins = Important structural material of the body. (keratin in skin, collagen & elastic in connective tissue & muscle proteins)
Vitamins = Function as coenzymes, which act with enzymes to accomplish a particular chemical task.
Minerals = Work with other nutrients to ensure a smoothly functioning body.
Water = In all cells, organs & tissues. Helps regulate temperature & maintain overall bodily functions.
Nutrients
Macromolecules = Carbs, Lipids, Proteins
Vitamins, Minerals & Water.
Raw water, no proteins, uncooked foods
Ingestion of raw water = Exposing herself to bacteria, unfiltered water may contain various dangerous microorganisms. Can lead to many health issues like sepsis, cholera & even death.
RDA = (Recommended Dietary Allowance) Purpose of these guidelines is to inform people on how much of a specific nutrient your body needs on a daily basis. Essential for adequately functioning body
Lack of proteins = Needed for muscle function. Low protein diet puts strain on kidneys. Wound healing decreases. Develop anemia.
Uncooked foods = Some cooked veggies supply more antioxidants to the body than they do raw.
Re-establishing homeostasis = Eating "fortified" foods that contain extra nutrients. Introduce more proteins. Vitamin & mineral supplements. Filtered water!!!!! And a well balanced diet.
